קוד: ובתהו ילל ישמן בתנ"ך

The Psalmist wrote:
מהרו שכחו מעשיו; לא-חכו לעצתו.
ויתאוו תאוה במדבר; וינסו-אל בישימון.
“They soon forgot His works; they waited not for His counsel;
And lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tried God in the desert” (Ps 106:13-14).

כמה ימרוהו במדבר; יעציבוהו בישימון.
וישובו וינסו אל; וקדוש ישראל התוו.
“How oft did they rebel against Him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert!
And still again they tried God, and set bounds to the Holy One of Israel” (Ps 78:40-41).

The Greek translator wrote here: “provoked.”

Yet in the Book of Deuteronomy we find:
כי חלק יהוה, עמו: יעקב, חבל נחלתו
ימצאהו בארץ מדבר, ובתהו ילל ישמן;
“For the portion of YHWH is His people, Jacob the lot of His inheritance.
He found him in a desert land, and in the waste, a howling wilderness” (Deu 32:9-10).

However, the comparison between these verses suggests that here ימצאהו (imtsaehu) is a letter-deletion and a letter-substitution error of: יעציבוהו (yaa’tsivuhu) - “they grieved Him.” This comparison also suggests that ובתהו ילל ישמן (uvethohu yelel yeshimon) is a letter-substitution, and order-type error of: והתוו אל בישמן (vehithvu el bayeshimon) - “and provoked God in the wilderness.”
