The Psalmist wrote: ישב עולם לפני אלהים; חסד ואמת, מן ינצרהו- “May he be enthroned before God forever! Appoint mercy and truth, that they may preserve him” (Ps 61:8).

Yet in the Book of Deuteronomy we find:
יסבבנהו, יבוננהו-יצרנהו, כאישון עינו.
“He compassed him about, He cared for him, He kept him as the apple of His eye” (Deu 32:10).

The comparison between these verses and the understanding of the Greek (and English) translators of יצרנהו (yitsrenehu) as “will guard him” suggests that this word is an order-type error of ינצרהו (yintherehu) - “will guard him.” Based on the content of these words, it is also suggested that her: יסבבנהו (isovevenhu) is a letter-substitution error of יסככהו (isochechhu) - “will shield him” (e.g. Ex 25:20; 37:9; 1 Ch 28:18). It is also suggested that here יבוננהו (yevonenhu) is a letter-substitution error of יגוננהו (yegonenhu) - “(He) will protect him” (e.g. Is 31:5). Therefore it is suggested that we should read יסככהו, יגוננהו-ינצרהו כאישון עינו.
